Uphold the Prime Directive and retrieve the replicator from the primitive alien species by negotiating obstacles and completing a construction challenge before they realise the capabilities of the technology.
The Prime Directive is a core Starfleet principle which prohibits Starfleet Officers from interfering with the natural evolution of any alien species. This includes not introducing any advanced knowledge or technology to a society beyond what they have already discovered for themselves, which in practice means all Starfleet missions must avoid First Contact with any species that have not already discovered warp technology or other advanced space exploration. The Prime Directive causes moral dilemmas in some situations and is difficult to uphold consistently but the consequences of ignoring it can be catastrophic so you should attempt to abide by it whatever the cost.
A Starfleet crew have recently visited this planet to make First Contact with an advanced alien species who have mastered warp technology but choose to live free from technology. Unfortunately the crew became confused between the post-warp species and another more primitive species inhabiting the same planet who have very limited technology. The crew have unwittingly violated the Prime Directive by giving the primitive species access to a replicator, technology well beyond their own evolutionary development. To avoid disaster your mission is to recover the replicator before the aliens work out how to use it and without them becoming aware of your presence.
Follow the directions of the mission commander to complete a construction challenge and retrieve the missing technology.
